Manifesto of Futurist Musicians

Francisco Balilla Pratella composed music for the piano and also the prize-winning opera La Sina d'Vergöun, performed at Bologna in 1909. the following year he became director of the music school at Lugo. he met Marinetti on 1920-08-20 at Imola where some of his works were being performed. he joined the futurists straight away and his home became a meeting place for futurists in Romagna. On 1910-10-11 he published the Manifesto dei musicisti futuristi. Maybe you can find it on the net; i only found an english translation. those futurists also came up with lots of other stuff.

they make knuth work where?

yeah, well, so this time it's a rather advanced topic, but the quotes on the front page could be interesting for anyone who digs my writeups. you get to see how Don Knuth used the word web for something hypertext-like before the dudes at CERN did. by the way, Knuth still resides at stanford university---not quite appropriately for a successful supporter of the OpenSource idea (TeX), in the so-called Gates Building. when RMS was there on a visit, he asked a student outside: "hey, is it the tradition here to give bill the finger when you go through these doors?"

no babel fish can handle this

Malbolge is a programming language created with the idea that programming should be hard. It was so well designed that no Malbogle program has ever been successfully written, except for a single piece of code from the raving lunatic who committed the language. it is 4 characters long (two of which are CR/LF) and does absolutely nothing.
if you can prove that Malbogle is turing-complete, i will send you a lolly.

freedom from ideology

someone pissed on Linus Torvalds because he uses a proprietary tool. the Linux kernel creator replied:

I would suggest that if you are silently seething about the fact that a commercial product can do something better than a free one, how about _doing_ something about it?
Quite frankly, I don't _want_ people using Linux for ideological reasons. I think ideology sucks. This world would be a much better place if people had less ideology, and a whole lot more "I do this because it's FUN and because others might find it useful, not because I got religion.”

Would I prefer to use a tool that didn't have any restrictions on it for kernel maintenance? Yes. But since no such tool exists, and since I'm personally not very interested in writing one, _and_ since I don't have any hangups about using the right tool for the job, I use BitKeeper. the attitude of RMS towards ideology is completely different.
